the world is a dangerous place, not because of the evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing. -words of wisdom from Albert Einstein-
i saw this quote on the bus to school today. wat did mr einstein mean by doing nothing? does it mean that i am contributing to the evil in the world? or the danger in the world? oh no. pple beware of me. cos i have been pretty much slacking around doing nothing these few days. sorta watching the world go by. wa ha ha. and speaking of buses, there was this guy sitting next to me who was reading this book called "xin jia bo min nan yu ci dian" (loosely translated it means singaporean hokkien dictionary) horrors...you mean they actually publish this kind of books?! hokkien need to learn one meh? wa suey han jiu aye hiao liao. ( er for those who dunno hokkien, it means i know it since young.) ha just go to any kopitiam and sit there everyday. gurantee you will be an expert within weeks. that's how i learnt mine. and after years of supervision from the kopi auntie ( tak kiu zhi buei!- one cup of milo, kopi see siu tai- coffee with milk, less sugar . ha see how good my hokkien is?) , my hokkien i dare say is pretty fluent. but i am sure there are pple out there who are even better...can sing in hokkien some more (right, cheryl?) wa ha ha. so, the point is, learning a language isn't that difficult. listen, practice, listen practice more. and tada! u will soon find urself spewing dialect essays like there is no tomorrow. ha. ms ong, are u reading this? when are u going to take lessons from me?
my god, how did i manage to digress so much from my original topic? wat was is again? oh ya, me contributing to evil in the world...evil? me? no no no.
