and here is one of the rare moments u catch jo concentrating. whwa aha ah. we were pretty early for the show and hence decided to spend some time studying so we will feel less guilty about watch a movie so near to the exams.
after so much hype, i went to do a little background reading on the movie, so i guess i was pretty much in the know what the plot was about. the movie itself did not disappoint. by my standards, 2 hrs 40 min is a quite long time for a movie but i was so glued to the screen cos of the suspense and intrigue which was building up with every second. me and jo's bladder almost bursting but didnt care la, die also have to sit through the whole movie.
i agree with wat the critics said about all the sex scenes in the movie. they were crucial in helping the audience understanding the emotions that the 2 protangonist were going through and without them, u will never fully accept why the female lead chose to let tony leung go even when she knew she was going to die doing so. ha aha ha, and of course, being the climax of the whole show, me and jo were like anticipating them. for those who think its a porn flick, let me burst ur bubble by telling you that all the sex scenes were done pretty artistically. however, me and jo were still very traumatised by a particular scene whereby tony leung was pretty violent. imagine the whole dominatrix thing, but with the guy being the dominant one ( i dunno wat's the term for it la...if there is even one...). and so there was the belt thing going on, with me feeling that the female lead was more like being raped than well, erm enjoying it. ha aha ah, and we were also very amused by the fact that they had all sorts of positions and hence we conclude that:
a) they got a very good KARMA SUTRA guide book
b) they are part time contortionist
c) they are yoga experts
d) all of the above. wh ah aha aha ah aha
me and ah jo before the movie....

me and ah jo AFTER the movie. mind boggling.ha aha aha .
and i especially love the fact that the show celebrated human imperfection and it added to the realism of the whole show. it made the show totally acceptable, as in u can expect this sort of things to happen in real life. shiok. Tang wei isnt exactly ur classic beauty. in fact i think that she's pretty plain looking. plus in all the those sex scenes, she had small boobs, a slight tummy, and unshaven ARMPIT HAIR. (wha ah ah, ok this part really tickled me and jo cos we have a thing going on about everything HAIRY.ha aha ha aha)
and i want to gush about TONY LEUNG! he has already gone past the acting stage to become a PERFORMER. everytime he appears, even if it is just briefly, it has so much presence. every little action is done to perfection. now u know why he has been my fave actors for years. since his commedian days (before he made it big to become some CANNES best actor...), i have already enjoyed his shows cos he is just so versatile. ya la ya la, and his ass is damn perky. a aha aha ha aha. but not the first time i see it le la. the movie 2046 also have ma.
ya, and wang lihom, being a first time actor, is also not bad as his character kuang yu ming. ok, i am just biased cos he has DIMPLES and i was going gaga in the cinema cos of it. ha aha ha a. but i got to be fair to say tat his hair in the movie was damn obiang. side parting with so much gel. eewwwwww.
all in all i totally enjoyed the whole movie. i give it 5.5* upon 5. wah aha aha ah a. cos of the fantastic cast, brilliant cinematography and ya la, the sex scenes. exceeded my expectations. ha aha ha. i also loved the way they juxtaposed the female lead's change from being a young innocent girl to a mature woman with all that emotional conflict in the short span of time. i wont mind watching it again. :)
